Visa Information

General Information

International participants planning to attend IMINFECTIOUS2026 in Rome, Italy, may need to apply for a Schengen visa, depending on their nationality.

1. Visa Requirements

  • Italy is part of the Schengen Area. Citizens of EU/EEA countries and many other nations do not require a visa for short stays (up to 90 days within 180 days).
  • Participants from countries that require a visa must apply for a short-stay Schengen visa (Type C) at the Italian Embassy or Consulate in their country of residence.

2. Documents Usually Required

  • Valid passport (with at least 6 months’ validity beyond the date of entry).
  • Completed visa application form.
  • Recent passport-sized photographs.
  • Proof of conference registration (invitation letter will be provided after registration).
  • Flight/travel itinerary and evidence of financial means.
  • Travel health insurance covering at least €30,000 for the Schengen area.

3. Visa Assistance

  • Upon request and after confirmation of registration, the organizing committee will provide an official invitation letter to support your visa application.
  • Please note: The invitation letter does not guarantee visa approval. Final decisions rest with the Italian Embassy or Consulate.

Participants are strongly advised to check the visa requirements for their nationality and apply well in advance of the conference.
