Associate Professor Gülsen Meral graduated from Istanbul University Cerrahpa?a School of Medicine in 1994. She became a specialist in paediatrics in 2001 . She is Associate Professor in Pediatrics and worked as a specialist as well as deputy chief physician and chief physician at several hospitals. She was the Rector’s advisor between 2019-2021 at the Northern Cyprus ITU. She is also an Acupuncture instructor. She worked as a Nutrigenetics graduate course and lecturer and gave undergraduate and graduate courses on child development. She has many national and international publications, and worked on editorial boards and as reviewers. She has a Master's Degree in Hospital Management. She has a Turkish language literature undergraduate education. She completed PhD program in Medical Genetics. In addition to her scientific achievements, she is ambitious about poetry and has 5 poetry books. She is the Founder of the Nutrigenetics and Epigenetics Association, and has memberships in the Green Crescent and Rumelia Association, Istanbul Acupuncture Association, and International Society of Nutrigenetics & Nutrigenomics. She participated in the first and second International Epigenetic Congress as the president. She is still the organizer and educator of the Epigenetic Coaching Program. She is actively giving trainings on Nutrigenetic & Epigenetic Counselling to health professionals from all over the World as a certified CPD program. She continues research and training as the founder and manager of Epigenetic Coaching.

Fatemeh Aghajani is a Master’s student in Molecular Biology and Genetics at the University of Pavia, with a strong academic and research focus on cancer biology. Her thesis work centers on understanding the biological effects of different radiotherapy modalities X-rays, protons, and carbon ions on head and neck cancer cell lines. By employing in vitro survival assays and radiobiological modeling, she investigates how particle therapies can overcome tumor radioresistance, one of the major obstacles in effective cancer treatment.
Her research is carried out at the National Center for Oncological Hadrontherapy (CNAO), where she explores how radiation quality influences DNA damage, clonogenic survival, and therapeutic potential. This work not only deepens understanding of the molecular and cellular responses of tumors to irradiation but also provides preclinical evidence for advancing personalized radiotherapy strategies.
Fatemeh’s academic foundation in Cell and Molecular Biology (BSc, Tehran) and her laboratory experience including PCR, Western blotting, immunohistochemistry, and cancer cell culture equip her with both the experimental and analytical skills necessary for cancer research. Her broader interests span tumor biology, mechanisms of radioresistance, and translational therapeutic strategies, reflecting her commitment to advancing oncology through integrative approaches that combine molecular biology with innovative cancer therapies.

Scott Themsen is a passionate molecular biologist and geneticist with expertise in medicine, cell function, and human physiology. I am particularly interested in how cellular mechanisms drive dynamic processes in health and disease, including conditions such as diabetes, genetic diseases, and muscle disorders. My scientific curiosity and dedication to problem solving drive me towards meaningful, translational research and laboratory work.
I am an outgoing person who quickly adapts to new environments and challenges. I have taught and supervised undergraduate, graduate, and PhD students with a focus on scientific methods and technical skills. I have gained over 600 hours of experience with microscopy, contributed to the development of a biosensor, and worked hands-on with both human and animal tissue materials. In addition, I have taken on research assistant assignments for 1.5 years, where I have helped implement sustainable work routines, handle chemical waste under GMP/GLP standards, and actively participate in symposia, conferences, and interdisciplinary research projects.
I am now seeking opportunities to apply my skills and experience in a professional context – whether in analytical laboratory work, research support or scientific development. Dr. Michael Lim pioneered the 1st Allogeneic Stem Cell transplantation for the region of Asia Pacific in 2012 for Aesthetic medicine and using source from umbilical MSC and dental pulp MSC. because of the limitations on results, he further developed his Cell Enhancement X Cad Int (CEXCI) product line treatment, that made breakthroughs in the world of anti-ageing and diseases intervention. With a background in laboratory sciences and human genetics, I have developed a deep interest in the molecular mechanisms underlying disease—particularly in the context of cancer and immune-related disorders. My academic journey has led me to work across a range of research environments, from university labs to industry internships, where I’ve explored topics like cancer stem cell biology, circular RNAs, and antibody-based therapeutics.
During my master’s studies, I focused on gastric cancer and its association with cancer stem cell markers, which sparked a broader interest in the role of non-coding RNAs in disease progression. Later, as part of a research team at Bu Ali Research Institute, I became more involved in molecular techniques that allowed me to contribute to ongoing projects in cellular and genetic research.
Most recently, I joined Immunordic for an internship, where I worked on early-phase research into nanobody-based therapeutics, supporting efforts in oncology and neuroscience. This experience gave me valuable insight into translational research and the growing intersection between academic science and biotech innovation.
Being part of IMGENETICS2026 is an exciting opportunity for me to share ideas and learn from others working at the forefront of genetics and genome research.

Throughout his experience in scientific institutions in Finland, Germany, and Egypt, his work has focused on how immune cells respond to pathogens, such as influenza strains, and abnormal environmental conditions, including hyperglycemia and tumor cells. My Master’s research focused on screening genetic variants (polymorphisms) related to Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) in Malay women with anovulatory infertility, aiming to identify risk-predictive and prognostic biomarkers for early diagnosis and targeted interventions for PCOS-related infertility.
