He graduated from University of Leicester Medical School and completed specialist training in otolaryngology in East Anglia, followed by a fellowship in endoscopic sinus and skull base surgery in Vancouver, Canada. He currently serves as Professor of Rhinology and Olfactology at University of East Anglia and as an Honorary Consultant Rhinologist and ENT Surgeon. His clinical work focuses on the management of chronic rhinosinusitis, allergic fungal rhinosinusitis, anterior skull base disorders, and disorders of smell and taste. He leads the UEA Rhinology and Olfactology Research Group, overseeing major clinical research programs, including national trials for chronic rhinosinusitis. He also established the UK’s first dedicated Smell and Taste Clinic, pioneering care and research for patients with olfactory and gustatory disorders. In addition to his clinical and academic work, he has held leadership roles in national professional societies, contributing significantly to the advancement of ENT research and patient care. His efforts have been instrumental in raising awareness of smell and taste disorders, especially in the post-COVID era.
